IloveBeijingandHennanoperabecauseitalwaysremindsmeofwhoIam.ButIamalsoafanofpopmusic,especiallyEnglishsongs.SoIhavecombinedeasternmelodywithwesternlanguage.Itiscalledwesternhennaopera.
Whentwoculturesmeet,theremaybethingsinoneculture,whichdonotfitintothetraditionoftheother.Whenthishappens,weneedtolearntounderstandandrespectthecustomsofanotherculture.Thentherearecertainthingssomepeoplemaynotlike.Tothis,Iwillsay,ifyoudonotlikeit,pleasetrytotolerateit.Tolearntotoleratewhatyoupersonallydon’tlikeisagreatvirtueatatimewhendifferentculturesmixandmerge.Beforeus,therearetworivers,easternandwesterncultures.Atpresent,theymayrunindifferentcourses.Buteventually,theywillconvergeintothevastseaofhumanculture.

Recently,therisaheateddebateinoursociety.Thecollegestudentsarethebeneficiariesofarareprivilege,whoreceiveexceptionaleducationatextraordinaryplaces.Butwillwebeabletofacethechallengeandsupportourselvesagainstallodds?Willwebeabletobetterthelivesofothers?Willwebeabletoaccepttheresponsibilityofbuildingthefutureofourcountry?
Thecynicssaythecollegestudentsarethepamperedlostgeneration,whichwouldcringeattheslightestdiscomfort.Butthecynicsarewrong.ThecollegestudentsIseeareeagerlylearningabouthowtoliveindependently.Wehelpeachothercleanthedormitory,goshoppingandbargaintogether,andtakeparttimejobstosupplementourpocketmoney.

Ascollegestudents,weareadolescentsatthecriticalturningpointinourlives.Weallfaceafundamentalchoice:cynicismorfaith,eachwillprofoundlyimpactourfuture,oreventhefutureofourcountry.Ibelieveinallmyfellowclassmates.Thoughwearestillinexperiencedandevenalittlebitchildish.Ibelievethatwehavethecourageandfaithtomeetanychallengeandtakeonourresponsibilities.Wearepreparingtoassumenewresponsibilitiesandtasks,andtousetheeducationwehavereceivedtomakeourworldabetterplace.Ibelieveinourfuture.
