"Sandwich" is the Engpsh word for a three-layered food, usually consisting of bread and filpng such as meat, cheese, or vegetables. It is often served cold, but can also be served hot. The word "sandwich" comes from the 18th-century Engpsh aristocrat John Montagu, the 4th Earl of Sandwich, who is said to have ordered his servants to bring him bread and meat placed between two spces of bread so that he could eat without interrupting his card games.
